Since discovery in 1878 by a tinsmith and a local photographer, visitors by the millions have made Luray Caverns the most popular cave in Eastern America and an internationally acclaimed destination.

4,000,000 centuries in the making beneath Virginias storied Shenandoah Valley, this must see U.S. Natural Landmark awaits your discovery. One hour tours, from well-lighted, paved walkways lead visitors through cathedral-sized rooms with ceilings 10 stories high. Enormous chambers are filled with towering columns, shimmering draperies and crystal-clear pools.

Also in this subterranean wonderland, Hear Rocks Sing as you experience the haunting sounds of the worlds largest musical instrument, The Great Stalacpipe Organ. Completely unique are the beautiful tones created by this one-of-a-kind instrument, which makes music of concert quality from the surrounding stalactite formations covering more than three acres.

LURAY VALLEY MUSEUM

The Luray Valley Museum is an intriguing and thorough presentation which celebrates our early Shenandoah Valley culture. Visitors begin the tour at the log Stonyman building which houses an overview of the Valleys history, supplemented with historic documents, decorative arts, items of clothing and artifacts.

CAR AND CARRIAGE CARAVAN

The Car and Carriage Caravan Museum exhibit is a tour of milestones in transportation, including authentically restored cars, carriages, coaches and costumes, dating from 1725 to 1941. The centerpiece of the collection is the 1892 Benz, one of the oldest cars in the country still in operating condition. Other highlights include an 1840 Conestoga Wagon, a 1908 Baker Electric, a 1913 Stanley Steamer, and Rudolph Valentinos 1925 Rolls Royce.

Luray Caverns is located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, just 90 minutes from Washington, DC, 10 minutes from the central entrance to Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park, and 15 minutes from I-81 at New Market, Virginia.
