International Childrens Festival has been organized as a flagship event with the goal of bringing together children from different cultures and communities in the Bay Area, and raising awareness to social problems children face by means of art contest and donations. They are proud to say the festival, which includes food, fun, dance, shows, and exhibits has been celebrated for seven years now.
Discovery Meadow Park, 180 Woz Way, San Jose, California. 10 AM - 5 PM.
The main organizers of the festival are Pacifica Institute, BayCC, and Childrens Discovery Museum of San Jose. 22 different groups and ethnicities performed their folk dances with authentic clothing and native songs. Some of the participating cultures were Chinese, Hawaiian, Indian, Mexican, Turkish, and Burmese. While enjoying traditional dances, visitors had the opportunity to taste homemade authentic dishes and desserts from around the world. In addition to dance performances, children enjoyed a circus, magic show, pony rides, balloon twisters, face painting and much more.
The food sale profits will be donated to reputable charities such as Embrace Relief, Child Advocates of Silicon Valley, Lucile Packard Childrens Hospital and Second Harvest Food Bank.
