On July 4, Independence Day, thousands of people watched the star spangled excitement of creative floats, specialty units, marching musical units and guest celebrities! This patriotic parade started at 10:00 a.m. sharp and completed in two hours to pass spectators along a one-mile route from the Library to Fremonts developing Downtown District featuring a differnet business district every year.
In 1999, the City of Fremont began hosting an annual 4th of July Parade in each of the original five historic township areas that came together in 1956 to form the - City of Fremont. In 2001, budget cutbacks forced the City to step aside in the funding and organization of these annual parades; but the citizens and greater Fremont area volunteers came together to keep the tradition going. The parade now rotates between five of the famous districts of Fremont.
ROUTE: The parade route starts at Library on Stevenson and heads north up Paseo Padre and turning left onto Liberty Street, and ends at State Street.
