Kittatinny Point Visitor Center is the main New Jersey office for the DWGNRA. The recreation area encompasses 67,000 acres in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, transected by 40 miles of the scenic middle Delaware River.

Worthington State Forest, Van Campen's Glen, a 25-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail that runs along the Kittatinny Ridge, more than 200 miles of roads, numerous rivers, lakes, streams and waterfalls, along with historic and cultural sites, are all contained within its borders.

Old Mine Road, which runs the length of the DWGNRA, is considered one of the oldest commercial roads in the northeast US. Some literature attributes the origin of the road to the mid-1600's by Dutch settlers for the purpose of transporting copper ore; however, there is no definitive proof of this historical speculation.

Without a doubt, though, the road was used to convey American Revolutionary War regiments. Today Old Mine Road transports visitors to a world of outdoor activities ranging from wildlife viewing, hiking and cross-country skiing, to bicycling, boating, camping and swimming.

The road begins at the Kittatinny Point Visitor Center and parallels the Delaware River through Warren and Sussex Counties, before crossing into New York State.

The visitor center provides a staffed information desk, park maps and brochures, children's materials, America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, annual passes for the DWGNRA, bookstore, restrooms or outdoor facilities, drinking water, phone, picnic area, canoe launch and it is handicapped accessible.
